International Women’s Day 2024: Putting Women at the Forefront of Enterprise Development

To celebrate the International Women’s Day this year, the Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development for Decent Employment in Nigeria Programme – SEDIN of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) championed the empowerment of 100 young female entrepreneurs in Egba and Ijebu region of Ogun State, Nigeria.

This was made possible through an innovative collaboration between two Partner Organisations (PO)- the Young Future Savers Initiative (YFSI) and the Ijebu Business School (IJBS).

As part of the buildup to the International Women’s Day commemoration, YFSI and IJBS provided the entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive in a competitive business landscape through GIZ’s ICSS Entrepreneurship Development Programme.

Through this intervention, these dynamic women went through intensive training sessions which equipped them with invaluable skills and insights to propel their ventures forward and on the 8th of March 2024, a grand graduation and certificate ceremony was organised in Abeokuta and Ijebu Ode in Ogun state, The event not only recognised the outstanding achievements of these entrepreneurs but also provided a vibrant platform for them to exhibit and sell their products, opening doors to new markets and opportunities.

Highlighting the significance of the occasion, the event welcomed esteemed representatives from Ogun State’s entrepreneurship ecosystem with a rich tapestry of support and collaboration from business development services. This provided mentorship opportunities and served as a catalyst for fostering meaningful connections and empowering women to chart their own paths to success.
