GIZ-SEDIN Trains 50 Civil Servants In Edo State On ADR

The Pro-Poor Growth and Promotion of Employment in Nigeria Programme – SEDIN of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH trained 50 stakeholders across the Edo State public sector on mediation and conciliation. This was implemented in collaboration with the Edo State Judiciary, the Edo State Multi-Door Courthouse, the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators and the Mediation Training Institute.

This capacity development is part of an ongoing effort to improve the ability of organisations that interface regularly with MSMEs to deliver affordable and timely commercial dispute resolution to businesses.

The training adopted a practical approach as the participants simulated dispute mediation scenarios to apply the skills they had learned. The participants at the 4-day training were from, the Ministry of Physical Planning, Regional and Urban Development, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Edo State Skills Development Agency, Edo State Investment Promotion Office, Edo State Geographic Information Service, the Edo State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, and the Edo State Taskforce Against Human Trafficking.
